In continuation of my No. 93 of the 28th ultimo, I beg to inform you that I arrived at Kisumu on the 31st of December, and, after consultation with the Pro- vincial Commissioner Kisumu, proceeded to Kisii Station, viá Lumbwa and Kericho. 2. Mr. Hemsted, Mr. Northcote, and Dr. Baker were all at Kisii Station. On my arrival, and, as a result of our deliberations on the subject of sleeping sickness settlements, Dr. Baker and Mr. Northcote were instructed to proceed with the for- mation of a camp near the River Oyani, outside the infected area as shown in the map published in the Official Gazette of 1st January.

3. This camp will approximately be in the area marked B in the map accom- panying Dr. Wiggins's report; and it was decided to proceed with it first, and not try and force matters in the other areas recommended in my letter, No. 35 of the 9th ultimo, as the people affected-the clan Kanyamkago-were not only willing to move, but had already begun to do so of their own accord.

4. As the people dwelling on the banks of the Rivers Kuja and Magori (with their tributaries) show a decided disinclination to move from their habitations, Dr. Baker and Mr. Northcote were instructed, preparatory to taking more decided
