The following Statement is quoted in the "Edinburgh Review," 1819, from a letter addressed to Lord Sidmouth, by the Hon. H. Grey Bennet, M.P.:

"The Colony of New South Wales, from 1788 to 1815 inclusive, has cost this country the enormous sum of 3,465,9831."
