At the same time I am to inform you that, on the motion of Sir Patrick Manson, the Advisory Committee have recommended, and Lord Crewe has approved, the grant of £900 to the School for promoting the sending to Bagdad and the Persian Gulf of a small expedition under the Protozoologist of the School for the purpose of The Crown investigating the connexion between Oriental sore and Kala-azar. Agents have been authorised to pay one-half of this amount to you at once, and Lord Crewe will be glad to receive in due course a report of the work done and a statement of expenditure.
