Submits despatch from Administrator of St. Lucia enclosing copy of minute from Dr. L. Nicholls, who will forward notes and specimens from time to time, but who desires more definite instructions.

131 Encloses copies of replies to No. 78 from Presidencies showing how far co-operation is possible; inclines to the view that most practical suggestion is that put forward by Commissioner of Agriculture in No. 81.

Proceedings at a Departmental Con- ference held at the Colonial Office to discuss a scheme for Imperial co- ordination in the prevention of the spread of insect pests in agriculture and horticulture.

Transmits, in reply to No. 78, copy of memorandum by Dr. A. T. Stanton showing what has already been done, and requests that the Commissioner may be asked to send out an entomo- logist temporarily as suggested.

States, in reply to No. 78, that arrange- ments have been made for the collection of disease bearing and other insects, and that it is hoped some practical work may be done in co-operation with the Committee.

States, in reply to No. 78, that the finances of the Colony do not justify any expenditure in the direction indicated, but refers to No. 89.

States that copies of the enclosure in No. 78 have been published in the local press and furnished to the Agri- cultural and Medical Departments.
