British Ambassador at Berlin enclosing copy of No. 233, and pointing out that the law in Southern Nigeria on the point was incorrectly described in an earlier despatch, and instructing him to apologise to the German Government.
Improvement of Veterinary Matters. Reports that the Bahamas in not suffi
ciently enlightened or progressive to have begun to take any real interest in veterinary matters, and that there is no one in the Colony capable of compiling a useful report on horse diseases.
London Convention for the Preservation of Wild Animals, Birds, and Fishes. Transmits copy of Resolution of the Inter-Colonial Conference in favour of the introduction into the various . Parliaments of legislation to give effect to the wishes of His Majesty's Government.
Observes, in reply to No. 93, that the Estimates for the current year pro- vide for a veterinary officer, and re- quests that he may be sent out as soon as possible; the suggested arrange- ments for the selection of veterinary officers appear to be all that could be desired.

Hunting Regulations in the Cameroons. Transmits copy of a despatch from Sir F. Lascelles covering copy of Regulations issned by the Governor of Cameroons regarding hunting in the Colony.
Improvement of Veterinary Matters. States that there seems to be no prospect of a veterinary officer being required by the Government of Weihaiwel, but that should one ever be necessary there will be no objection to his being selected in the manner proposed.
Concurs, in reply to No. 93, in the view that all candidates for veterinary ap- pointments in the Protectorate should be required to pass the examination referred to, and states that all reports of special interest emanating from the Veterinary Department are sent to the Colonial Office.

there is no Veterinary Department in the Colony, but that when the office of Chief Inspector of Stock becomes vacant it will be filled by a Veterinary Officer, and that the advice of the Board of Agriculture will be sought when the need arises.
Game Laws of the East Africa Pro- tectorate.
Explains the amendments proposed to be made in the Game Laws, and asks for approval by telegraph.
Improvement of Veterinary Matters.
States that the revenue of the colony is unable to bear the cost of such a Vet-
erinary Department as that suggested, but that if one is constituted at any time, he considers it most desirable that the appointments should be made in the manner suggested.

Game Laws of the East Africa
Protectorate. Approves the amendments proposed in

Native Method of Castrating Cattle. States, in reply to No. 212, that the matter is one for investigation by the Veterinary Officer who is to be appointed.

"Red water" should be added to the list of specific diseases included in the statistics of animal mortality: that it is desirable that any great from whatever cause mortality amongst cattle should be reported to the Government, and that failure to report any serious loss of cattle from disease should be punishable.
