Downing Street, 18 October, 1909.
I HAVE the honour to invite [Your Excellency's] [your] attention to the 7th paragraph of Mr. Lyttelton's circular despatch of the 13th of April, 1905,* in which allusion is made to the question of the preparation of illustrated lectures on the Empire for use in the schools of the United Kingdom.

Most of the money required for the necessary initial expenditure has been secured, at the instance of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales, by Lady Dudley and a committee of ladies, who raised by private subscription a sum nearly amounting to £4,000. This sum was placed at the disposal of the Committee on Visual Instruction, sitting at this Office, to enable them to proceed with the scheme.
