Remarks.-The" Ariel "-was-purchased at Halifax-in-the-end-of-1891-and-fitted-out-there-for the--voyago to British Columbia, with a view to engaging in sealing from-Vietoria--in-thas Province. The first-item-above includes-all-the-expenses incurred in the purchase-of-the-vessel, litting-her-for-the-voyage-to-Vistoria, and the expenses connected with the voyage.

The second includes the-cest-of the alterations and-fittings-required-for-adopting the rewel for sealing-purposes including the purchase-of-boats,-guns,-ke.

The third-item-consists-of-the-outlay-incidental-to-the-particular voyage, the cost of ammunition, provisions-wages, insurance, &e.

The-fourth consists of the estimated-net-profits-of-the-voyage.—The return which accompanies the MeGowan-papers shows that-14-vessels-with-84-boats-made in the vicinity of the Commander Jelands a cuteb-of-gr497-scule-giving-sa-average-of-119*95——

The "Ariel "-had-7-beats which would give-her-an-estimated total catch of 786-sealu.

Remarks.-The-MoGowan-was-a-larger-vessel-than-the-“ Ariel "-though enrrying the-sume number of-beate.--It-is-diffoult-to-make out-in many-cases-whether-the-supplies should-be charged to-bead-(+)—or-to-head-(3),-as-the ownere, W.-H. Moore-of-Sydney,-appear-to-have-furnished much of the provisions and other supplies-not-only-for-the-voyage-to-British Columbia-but-nko for-the-sealing-voyage-before-the-vessel-left-Cape-Breten.
