8409.
SIR,
No. 201.
(NEW SOUTH WALES.)
THE LORD CHANCELLOR to COLONIAL OFFICE.
26th May 1879.
I AM directed by the Lord Chancellor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 19th instant on the subject of the Reserved Bill of the Legislature of New South Wales, "To amend the law relating to divorce and matrimonial causes," and to return the original documents enclosed in it.
The Lord Chancellor desires me to inform you that he still retains the opinion which he expressed in his letter to you of May 23rd of last year. As, however, the matter appears to be one on which the Legislature of New South Wales seem likely to renew their efforts from time to time, his Lordship thinks that you may possibly desire to take the opinion of the Cabinet upon it.
The Right Hon.
(Signed)
Sir Michael E. Hicks Beach, Bart., M.P.,

I have, &c., HENRY J. L. GRAHAM,
Principal Secretary.
