LAW OFFICERS to COLONIAL OFFICE.
We are honoured with your Lordship's commands signified in Mr. Herbert's
Temple, April 7, 1873. letter of the 31st March ultimo, stating that he was directed by your Lordship to transmit to us copies of two Despatches from the Governor-General of Canada with No. 35. their enclosures relating to the Act of the Provincial Legislature of New Brunswick Feb. 1873. passed in May 1871 relating to common schools, and that he was desired to refer us to 18 Mar. the opinions given by us in reference to that Act, dated the 29th November and 12th 1873. February last.
Mr. Herbert was pleased further to say that he was to request that we would take those further papers into consideration and favour your Lordship with our opinion upon them and that he enclosed copies of the papers on which our previous opinions were given.

That we have re-considered this case with special reference to the further papers now sent, and we see no reason to alter or modify the opinions which we have already sub- mitted to your Lordship on this subject.
