THE GOVERNOR to THE SECRETARY OF STATE. (Received 4th September, 1933.)
Government House, Port Louis, 27th July, 1933.
I HAVE the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 157 of the 30th of May transmitting Letters Patent passed under the Great Seal of the Realm dated the 18th April, 1933, making further provision for the Government of Mauritius, and Additional Royal Instructions under the Royal Sign Manual and Signet, together with six printed copies of each Instrument.
2. As I signified in my telegram No. 49 of the 11th of July, the Letters Patent and the Additional Instructions were brought into operation on the 18th of July, when the Letters Patent and a Proclamation, of which a copy§ is attached, were read in the Council of Government and published in the Official Gazette of the Colony. Your despatch under acknowledgment and the Additional Instructions were published at the same time.
3. As regards paragraph 5 of your despatch I take the opportunity of confirming the recommendation made in my telegram No. 49 of 11th July for the appointment of Dr. Edgar Laurent and Mr. Jules Leclezio to be Unofficial Members of the Executive Council, a recommendation which was approved in your telegram No. 58 of 12th July.|| These gentlemen took their seats in Executive Council on the 21st July.
