I AM directed by Earl Granville to acquaint you, for the information of the Earl of Kimberley, that your letters of the 9th February 1870 and 4th March 1871, together with mine of the 12th February 1870, respecting the amendments to be effected in the proper Law Hong Kong and Macao Extradition Ordinance of 1869 were referred to the Officers of the Crown, who have now informed Lord Granville that they are of opinion that the amended Ordinance, received from the Governor of Hong Kong and inclosed in your letter of the 4th ultimo is right and proper, and that there is no objection, as far as they are aware to its being confirmed by Her Majesty.
