LAW OFFICERS to FOREIGN OFFICE.
Lincoln's Inn, November 27, 1865.
We are honoured with your Lordship's commands signified in Mr. Hammond's letter of the 20th instant, stating that he was directed by your Lordship to transmit to us a letter from the Colonial Office enclosing a copy of a letter from the Governor Nov. 18, of the Bahamas requesting instructions with regard to granting a British register 1865.
to a steam vessel the "Kate Gregg," which, having been built in England and sold during the late civil war to a resident of Charleston, was there registered under the flag of the Confederate Government, and to request that we would take this matter into our consideration and report to your Lordship our opinion thereupon.
In obedience to your Lordship's commands, we have taken this matter into our consideration, and have the honour to
