The Projected Railway from Canton to Kowloon.

The British and Chinese Corporation, having regard to the opinion expressed by you in your telegram, No. 114, of the 13th of June, propose to give instructions to their agent at Peking to return to Shanghai.

Do you see any objection to this proposal? The instructions will be sent only if, in your opinion, the present position of the railway negotiations will not be prejudiced by Mr. Ross's departure from Peking.

We have accordingly telegraphed to China requesting that Mr. Ross will remain in Peking.
