Downing Street, 11 July, 1911. WITH reference to Sir J. Anderson's Confidential despatch of the 8th September, 1910, I have the honour to transmit to you the accompanying copy of correspondencet with the Treasury, on the subject of the currency reserves of the Straits Settlements.

2. I should be glad if you would send home the draft of an Ordinance as pro- posed in paragraph 10 of Sir J. Anderson's despatch, above quoted, on the lines of the memorandum which accompanied it, with the modification indicated in the letter from the Treasury of the 7th June.‡
