Transmits copy of a minute from the Acting Colonial Secretary to the Surveyor - General requesting plans, sections and specifications of the pro- posed lines, together with the reply of the Surveyor-General stating that to do so will cost Rs.12,000; proposes not to incur this expenditure.
States that the financial condition of the Colony and sugar industry are under consideration and that further details are awaited from the Colony.
States, in reply to No. 148, that the rail- way should be furnished with suffi- cient rolling stock for absolutely necessary requirements and for enabling the Government to carry out its contractual obligations.
