Conveys instructions for him to visit and report upon the territory about to be leased..
Acquaints them of Mr. Lockhart's mission, and asks that a gunboat may be placed at his dispom! : suggests that a Naval officer should 1000mpany him.
Conveys information respecting Mr. Lockhart'a mission, and asks for the services of a Royal Engineer offloor to accompany him and report upon the geology and resouroes of the territory:
Informs him of the signature of the Convention for extending the boundaries of Hong Kong: no definite instrnotions can at present be given sa to the date of taking possession of the territory : informa him of Mr. Lockhart's mission, and requests that he be rendered all the assistance possible.
Transmita, for concurrence, draft Order in Council which it is pro- posed to submit to the Law Officers providing for the incorporation in the Colony of Hong Kong of the territory about to be soquired. Convoys decision respecting Mr.
Lockhart's malary, leave, and pas sagoa, and instructs him to obtain the necessary votes from the Legis- lative Council,
