you will inform the petitioners that the sale was duly held for arrears of 1880 and 1881 after due notice, and cannot now be cancelled.

notice that the Ratemahatineya was the purchaser of the field. I will not object in this instance, as it is necessary to break down the combination of landowners against sale of fields for arrears of tax, but as a rule the purchase by headmen of fields sold for arrears is not to be encouraged.
