that the immigrants in respect of whom the said 25 per cent. shall be claimed, were embarked under the said arrangement on account of the person claiming the same.
76. The passage money and the expenses of in- troduction shall in no case be a debt recoverable from such immigrant, but shall be paid by the employer with whom any such immigrant may first enter into a written contract of service.
77. The provisions of this Ordinance relating to forfeitures of wages, rations, and penalties incurred for unlicensed absences from work, and any law relating to the recovery of wages and arrears of wages, the providing of rations and medical treat- ment, and the annulling or cancelling of contracts of service, are hereby extended to immigrants engaged under the powers conferred by this chapter of this. Ordinance.
CHAPTER VI.
LIBERATED African SLAVES.
78. All persons of African origin who shall be found in vessels captured by any of Her Majesty's cruisers engaged in the suppression of the slave trade, and shall be landed in Mauritius or Seychelles as liberated slaves, may be engaged in contracts of service, in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance.
79. Such contracts of service may be for any period not exceeding five years. They shall be in writing, and shall be entered into before, and authen- ticated by, the stipendiary magistrate of the place in which they are made.
80. Every such contract shall include an allowance of wages and rations in accordance with the pro- visions of this Ordinance. The employer shall further be obliged to give his servant proper lodging and medical care.
81. In the event of any liberated slaves being landed at any of the Seychelles dependencies, and of there not being within those dependencies persons whom the Civil Commissioner thereof shall consider fit, and who shall be willing to enter into contracts of service with them, in accordance with this Ordi- nance and relative regulations, it shall be lawful to the Civil Commissioner of Seychelles to cause them to be forwarded to Mauritius, to be there engaged in contracts of service aforesaid. In such case the said liberated slaves shall be forwarded by the first con- venient opportunity.
82. During the interval between their arrival at of liberated Seychelles and their being forwarded to Mauritius, such liberated slaves shall receive food, clothing, lodging, and medical care at the expense of the Government, and under the superintendence of the Civil Commissioner of Seychelles, and may be employed in any Government works, either without wages, or at such rate of wages as shall be fixed by regulations.

85.
