No. 5 of 1875.

A REGULATION of the BOARD of CIVIL COMMISSIONERS for the SEYCHELLES ISLANDS to amend REGULATIONS No. 5 of 1872, being a REGULATION with respect to the MEDICAL TREatment of LibERATED AFRICANS.

WHEREAS it is expedient to provide proper accommodation and proper treatment to Liberated African women when in confinement :

Therefore be it enacted and it is enacted;

I. Any owner or occupier of any estate or establishment whatever on which liberated African women are employed shall forthwith cause to be constructed on such estate or establishment a separate building, to be approved of by the Inspector of liberated Africans, for the reception and treatment of the African women employed on such estate or establishment when in confinement.

II. Such building shall not be used for any other purposes whilst occupied by any African woman in confinement.

III. Every woman as aforesaid shall, whilst in confinement, be attended by a competent person, medical practitioner or midwife, at her employer's expense.

IV. Any contravention against any of the provisions of this Regulation shall be prosecuted by the Inspector of liberated Africans before a stipendiary magistrate.

V. Any person committing a contravention against any of the provisions of this Regulation shall be liable to a fine not exceeding 101. sterling.

VI. This Regulation shall be read and construed as part of Regulation No. 5 of 1872. VII. This Regulation shall come into force on the day of its confirmation by His Exellency the Governor.

No. 7 of 1875.

A REGULATION of the BOARD OF CIVIL COMMISSIONERS FOR THE SEYCHELLES ISLANDS, to amend REGULATION No. 4 of 1872, being a REGULATION for the APPOINTMENT of an INSPECTOR of LIBERATED AFRICANS.

WHEREAS it is expedient to confer further powers upon the Inspector of liberated Africans:

Therefore be it enacted, and it is enacted:

I. The words "except private dwelling-houses" mentioned in Clauses III., IV., and VI. of Regulation No. 4 of 1872, are hereby repealed.

II. All and every of the powers conferred upon the Inspector of liberated Africans by Clauses III and IV. of Regulation No. 4 of 1872, shall be exercised by him as well with regard to private dwelling-houses, in which allotted or engaged liberated Africans are employed, as the other places mentioned in the said Clauses III. and IV.

III. The Inspector of liberated Africans may enter and prosecute any stipendiary case at the request or on behalf of any liberated African under allotment of written contract of service.

IV. This Regulation shall be read and construed as forming part of Regulation No. 4

of 1872.

V. This Regulation shall come into force on the day of its confirmation by His Excellency the Governor.

A REGULATION of the BOARD OF CIVIL COMMISSIONERS FOR THE SEYCHELLES ISLANDS to amend REGULATION NO. 11 of 1874, being a Regulation to make further PROVISIONS as regards CONTRACTS of SERVICE entered between EMPLOYERS and LIBERATED AFRICANS landed in SEYCHELLES.

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend Regulation No. 11 of 1874, being a Regulation to make further provisions as regards contracts of service entered between employers and liberated Africans landed in Seychelles :

Therefore be it enacted, and it is enacted:

I. Any person neglecting to engage before a stipendiary magistrate any liberated African allotted to him, at the time at which such African ought to be engaged according to law, shall for every such offence be liable to a fine not exceeding 56. sterling, to be recovered by the Inspector of liberated Africans before a stipendiary magistrate.

II. The male gender in this Regulation shall include the female and the singular number the plural.

III. This Regulation shall be read and construed as forming part of Regulation No. 11 of 1874.

IV. This Regulation shall come into force ou the day of its confirmation by His Excellency the Governor.
