*0.0.537/137-152, which were transferred in August 1938, are stated to have

been found in a cupboard at the Colonial Office, which had not been opened for many years.

t8ir Francis Head's own copy. With a Colonial offios memorandum "of

23 July 1869, stating that this volume had been deposited by him for safe custody.

*The style of the binding and that of the labelling (both contemporary, but neither of the normal Colonial Office type) of 0.0.537/140-143 are respectively identical. All these volumes come within the secretaryship of state of Edward Geoffrey, Lord Stanley, afterwards Earl of Derby.
