ONE-FILM COMPANIES.
The mushroom growth of the so-called one-film
companies is largely due to the following reasons:
(a) the recent prolonged slump in Hong Kong dictates the necessity of producing 'quickies' at
the minimum cost;
(b)
the virtual suspension of the largest local studio (Yung Hwa) for nearly four months has thrown
many film workers into unemployment and forced them to work for 'quicky' producers;
(c) the scarcity of new films from China has
created demand for Hong Kong-made films in Singapore
and other South East Asian territories.
Those one-film companies which have already started, or definitely decided, to produce films are as follows:-
