My dear Murray,
With reference to Foreign Office telegram No.1783 of the 22nd December to the Commissioner General in Singapore, I should be grateful if you could ensure that we are consulted before any appointment is made to the post of Regional Information Office Representative in Hong Kong. If a candidate is put forward by Singapore, I imagine that Rayner will make sure that the Governor of Hong Kong is consulted, but, in view of the need for getting just the right man for this post, and in view of the fact that he will have to work in the closest contact with the Government of Hong Kong, we are anxious to ensure that we have an opportunity of commenting on any candidates which are put forward.
Yours sincerely,
RALPH MURRAY, ESQ., C.M. G.,
