These soldiers came to Hong Kong in batches after the fall of CANTON. Many were actually sent down by the Communist authorities in CANTON who subsequently refused to receive them back into Chinese territory. Most were blind, crippled or otherwise unfit for further service. They were cared for by, charitable organisations here assisted by official funds, and the authorities in FORMOSA were induced to accept them only with some difficulty.
