Entry of Pakistanis into Hong Kong.
This Government is proposing to relax the Regulations governing the entry of Pakistanis into Hong Kong. Copies of the following correspon- dence with the Secretary of State is enclosed:-
(1) Top Secret telegram No. 282 of 13th February
to the Secretary of State.
(ii) Top Secret telegram No. 962 of 8th September
1948 from the Secretary of State.
(iii) Top Secret Savingram No. 113 of 20th December
1948 to the Secretary of State.
(iv) Top Secret Savingram No. 40 of 10th February
1949 from the Secretary of State,
2. I am prepared to admit those categories of Pakistanis specified in my Top Secret savingram No. 113 of 20th December without prior reference provided that am assured that effective screening will be carried out in Pakistan.
3. I should be grateful for information there- Zore as to whether you consider that such screening will be effective and whether you would be able and prpared to assist.
