Kowlon Canton railway.

Trevor, Manager British section met Lui, Mananging

Director, Southern section of Yueh Han Railway on 9th April at Shunchun and discussed in friendly atmosphere for nearly six bears Chinese request to run through passenger trains from Canton te Kowlon.

Zo Motive of request not clear but seems inspired by economie Asiderations, i.e. to obtain some revenue in Hong Kong dollars.

3. Trevor on instructions did not commit himself.

I am considering carefully in view of immigration, customs, finance and security angles and will report further. Trevor has been invited 4. Further meeting in Canton on 18th April which he has not so far coampted.

Interpreter thoughout proceedings was a representative om so called Foreign Office in Canton. This might indicate improved attitude towards British recognition. Grateful if Hutchinson scale indicate whether there is any sign of this. Grateful also for Any other views you may have on advisability of agreeing to resumption of through services.
