As a result of events in Far East and. following endorsement of suggestion by

Commissioner-General's Conference in November, it has been decided to consider urgently whether effective broadcasting service to China from Hong Kong can be established.

It may be assumed that for such a service

medium waves would be used; .

programmes would be mainly originated in Hong Kong:

one or more 7 kilowatt short-wave aur:lue transmitters in Singapore could be converted and transferred to Hong Kong either to replace existing 24 kilowatt transmitters or to rudiate distinct programme on different wavelength;

Foreign Office guidance and information would be made available and staff might be attached to assist present director wit particular reference to these broadcasts;
