8. If a decision were to be taken that a
station should be erected, it would be desirable
the installation should proceed
that this should be done at emergency speed and
that the period envisaged for its erection should be reduced substantially below the present
estimate of some two years.
9. It might be desirable to enquire whether the United States Government would be interested in obtaining facilities on the transmitter if it came into being, since this would increase their interest in the Colony and our policy in respect of it. (This aspect of the matter appears to reinforce the suggestion that the question of obtaining the existing ex-lend-lease 50 kw. transmitter now in this country, from the Americans on inexpensive terms, might be further investigated.
It is recommended that consideration of the technical and financial aspects of the proposal should be made in the light of the above.
