Since I dictated my minute of the 16th May above, the papers from No. 91. have been attached.

No. 91. this carries forward & discussions with the `old Dominions (see No.80) and is the first reaction

suggesting that one of them might give assistance in the defence of Hong Kong. It is particularly encouraging to note that one Light Fleet Carrier already worked up can be available, freccessing.

No. 92: see No. 88 and the reply at No. 89 which

followed this C.O.S. meeting: ah x/f my darlis Munke of tosty

No. 93: relates to arrangements for the meeting of the Chiefs of Staff with Mr. Malcolm MacDonald and the two C's-in-C. Far East. I have informed Mr. Higham, Mr. Sidebotham and Mr. Paskin of the proposed arrangements for this meeting.

Nos. 94 to 97: These papers were handed to me this morning by Mr. Trafford Smith: Mr. Sidebotham also told me that Mr. Paskin wishes copies of No. 75 to be sent to the Governor, Hong Kong and the Commissioner General to-day in accordance with the Prime Minister's agreement at No. 97. Mr. Roberts at my request has asked the Cabinet Office to provide the necessary copies of No. 75 but he tells me that they have run out and others are being prepared, Meanwhile, I submit draft savingram to send out' these documents.
