Location of HQ RASC
(a) CRASC moved to H Land Forces builiing at 1100 hrs 6 Dec
where he remained until 1800 hrs 7 Jec. During this time he was out of effective touch and coms n of his nits. He received information, upon which a maintenance plan depended, through BRASCO KO LCON Inf Bde. This information involved dispositions of Tps and future plans. There was some 18 hrs delay in his receipt of the Bde Com's intentions. Since this was a Bde "battle" such delay in "Q" Branch and CFASC formulating a maintenance plan might have had serious consequences. RASC Unit Com anders at this time, were befogged and without guidance.
(b) S Sup C (right hand man to OF ASC) took commend of FEA (in
absence f CRASC) thus H RA80 lont a valu o member of its staff. Thon at 1300 hrs 7 Dec CRASC came over to KO LOON (he visited H KO ICON Inf de for the first time), and then occupied the iQ Office at PMA. He left a Det at
HQ Land Forces.
(c) A Det of HQ RASC remained in its normal HQ in HITFIE D
Bks - carrying out routine work.
(d) Thus HQ RASC was in three portions, Ad utant at HQ Iand Forces, CRASC and S Sup O at FMA, and one Officer at "HITFIELD Barracks.
This might or for a short time, but it is spreading the resources of a tiny HO of five Officers.
Comments:
(a) CHASC is a Commander and his first duty is to load his team of RaSC units though he also has a second Juty of advising the GOC on S & T matters (NB there is no ADST in HƯNG KONG).
(b) Under existing conditions the best solution to the location cf HQ CRASC will be to remain at the normal location at
HITFIELD Bks and to have a responsible 10 at CSHQ. Under this plan CRASC will best be able to maintain touch with his units and Ede Hg and also to ensure that essential routine work is dealt with by his HQ. responsible ST advisor will be at HLF.
At the same time a need reconsideration later in, the light of para 2, but if
This solution may CFASC moves to CSC he must move complete with his HQ, the necessary accommod. tion being earmarked for his use.
(c) CFASC or his deputy should NCT command the FMA as he has
more than enough to do without thin additional commitment.
This duty will therefore in future be carried out by the Ordnance Depot Com ander.
BRASCO
The Ede used BRASCO correctly except that they 110 ed CRASC to take him as 0 i/c Sups on an MFV thus losing bis services for 7 to 12 hours.
BRASCO complained that no staff tables vehicles and personnel were available.
