such society in any way or in any matter under

control of such organisation or group". We hope

(a) thɛt, in the very special circumstances of Hong

Kong, you will not wish to raise objection to this

proposed, provision; and (b) that, if Singapore and

the Federation should also wish to include this

provisiɔn in their legislation, you will not object.

8.. In Hong Kong, unlike Singapore, there is not,

as far as we are aware any Indian Society which

would be affected by the proposed legislation.

to raise objections to the Hong Kong proposals, we

propose to submit them to Ministers here for

approval, without awaiting the comments of the C.R.0.

9. The draft of this letter has been agreed with

Sidebotham, as regards Hong Kong. As indicated

a very early reply.

10.

I am sending copies of this letter, with its

enclosures to R.H. Scott, Burley (Home Office) and

Gibson (C.R.0.).
