(a) to prescribe the forms which may be used for carrying

out the provisions of this Ordinance;

(e) generally for carrying into effect the provisions of

this Ordino in relation to any matters, whether similar or not to

those in this sub-section mentioned, as to which it may be expedient

to make rules.

(2) Any contravention of any rule made under this Ordinance

shall be punished on summary conviction by imprisonment for any term

not exceeding six months and by a fine not exceeding one thousand

dollars save in so far as a lesser penalty is not provided by rule.

(3) The rules in the Schedule to this Ordinance shall be

in force except so far as they may be rescinded or amended by rules

made under this section.

Repeal.

27.

This Ordinance shall continue in force until and

including the 31st Decembur, 1950: Provided that it shall be lawful for the Leg the Legislative Council from time to time by resolution to extend

the duration of this Ordinance for such term, not exceeding one year

at a time, as may be specified in such resolution.

The Societies Ordinance, 1920, is hereby repealed.

Rules.

These Rules may be cited as the Societies (Registration)

Rules, 1949.

2. Every application for the registration of any society

shall be made in Form I of the Schedule to these Rules, which form

shall be supplied by the Registrer of Societies. Such application

shall be signed by the president, secretary and treasurer of the

Society or by the person holding positions in the society analogous

to those of president, secretary and treasurer.

3. The decision of the Registrar upon every application made

in manner specified in rule 2 shall be communicated in Form II of the
