I should be glad if an official letter of recognition and thanks could be sent to the Commissioner of Police. It would be much appreciated by the Commissioner and Chief Inspector Coveney: Further, it might well prove helpful should we, at any time, require similar assistance.

There is one other point; the chief purpose of Coveney's visit was to Malaya. To write about Hong Kong without reference to Malaya would look rather striking, and I feel fairly safe in saying that the services of Coveney were equally valuable and appreciated in the latter named territory, although we have not, so far. as I am aware, had any official communication to this effect.
