Dr Clark did come over at that time. It went to the Acting M. 0. H. and it went to Dr Clark, who was then P. C. M. O. He passed the work and said at the time that my application was too late for the estimates,

and could not be entertained.

I undertook duty in addition to my own, and I wanted

them to see the work, and if they were satisfied that

it was an enormous saving to the Government, it might

have influenced them with regard to my application for

an increase.
