Mr Perkins wishes to amplify his replies to 23132
certain questions in the following manner:-
•
Page 1675, I suppose nine tenths of your time
is taken up with Building Authority work ↑
The answer is. I cannot give an approximate idea
as to what proportion of my time is devoted to
Building Ordinance work. Recently, I have been
engaged on getting out plans and reporting on a
proposed destructor. This has taken some time to
complete. In addition to this, I have also been
engaged on a large resumption scheme. All this work
is of course in connection with Public Health, but
does not come within the scope of the Building
Ordinance.
Page 1683. Q. Why a difficult question ? I ask you
from your experience in England of similar bodies,
whether it is not always left to the Surveyor or an
engineer.
The answer is. It is usually left to the Surveyor
or engineer.
Page 1686. Q. 14226. Now that is very much what
you suggested just now, I think.
The answer is. Yes, but such Committee did not
only deal with Buildings. The Sanitary Authority of
Bristol, for instance, dealt with nearly everything,
pertaining to the management of the city, except
education, police, slectric light, and docks. Plans
were dealt with by this Authority oh alternate
Thursdays, all plans received sings the previous
meeting being considered then, even plans sent is at
the last business hour of the previous day.
