Statement read as follows:-

"I Pung an Cho, residing at No 10 Ku Yan Street, West

"Point, make the following statement:-

*About the 3rd moon last year (the exact date I dont

"remember) Chan Che and Lau Wing Sang of the Chiu Hing

"Restaurant cane and asked me to obtain permission for

"them not to open a yard, because they had received a

"notice from the Sanitary Board to do so. Thereupón I

"want to see Inspector Table's interpreter, Ng Sau

"Kwong about it, and told him that is such permission

"could be obtained Chiu Hing Sau would make them a

"present. I did not know Ng Sau wwong personally. Ris

"name was mentioned to me when I made enquiries as to

"whom I should first approach. He told me that chiu

"Hing Sau was in the District where Inspector Lamble

"was in charge and advised me to speak to him about it.

"He gave me Inspector Lamble's addresa iz High Street,

"and I went there and found him. I told the Inspector

"that Chiu Hing Sau would make a present, if he could

"get the premises exempted from providing a yard. He

"said he would take steps to get it and let me know

"later on. From the 3rd moon to the 5th moon I had been

*to see him several times at the request of either Chan

"Chi or Lau Wing Sang. Eventually in the 5th moon he *told me, when I went to hin house, that the yard need "not be provided. I informed Chan chi accordingly and

"he handed me an envelope containing $100 odd. The

"exact amount I do not now recollect. I received the

"money in an afternoon and took it to Inspector Lamble's

"house about 7 o'clock in the evening of the same day

"and handed it to him. I did not open the envelope to

"count the money.. I knew the amount was $100 odd, "because when Chan Chi paid it to me, he told me so,
