1. The opinion of the Law Officers in reply to the reference at (6) on 54145/16/6/48 has come and is at (10) thereon. It is that the Chinese case would succeed unless the British refusal to allow resumption of Chinese jurisdiction could be justified on the ground of military requirement, that there might be difficulty in establishing even such a ground to the satisfaction of the Court and that there might in any case be objection (from the security angle) to litigating this question.
