No.9 (in triplicate)
Sir,
BRITISH CONSULAT: GINIRAL
TSINGTAO.
12th January 1948.
With reference to my despatch No. 8 of 10th January, I have the honour to enclose herewith a translation of the article in question.
With regard to the fourth paragraph, article 2. of this translation, it appears that it is not the intention of the newspapers to publish articles as often as stated, The copy of the Pin Min Pao dated 11th January carried a less prominent article on the same lines as the day previous and today, 12th, there is no mention of the matter in this paper; and apparently things are cooling off.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most humble, obedient
Servant,
R.H. Eckford
Acting Consul-General.
His Excellency,
The British Ambassador,
British Embassy,
Nanking.
