J. I gathered from our discussion with Mr. Rees-Williams this afternoon that Mr. Bevin was prepared to leave the textual amendments to be settled between the two Departments concerned, and to drop the suggestion for a Consulate-General, and that he accepted the proposal for a Garden of Remembrance. Mr. Bevin said, however, that he would pass on his views to Mr. Dening, who would no doubt get in touch with us about the amendment of the draft telegram. In the meantime, I have sent over to Mr. Scarlett, at No.116, the details of our textual amendments.
