As a result of Police action on the 5th January,
two residents of the Kowloon City, named Chu Pei Tang
and Liu Ngao Fu, were arrested and were subsequently
sentenced on the 13th January by the Hong Kong Court
to three months' hard labour. Please make
representations to the British Government and urge
them to instruct the Hong Kong Government to station
no Police in the City, and to have the two said
residents released pending settlement of the dispute
presently raised over the City of Kowloon. Emphasise,
at the same time, the political significance of the
question and obtain the helpful co-operation of the
British Government in the matter.
