HONG KONG (CHINESE REFUGEES)
81. Mr. Bartlett asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps he is taking to prevent uncontrolled large-scale migration of Chinese into the already overcrowded Colony of Hong Kong due to the worsening of the situation in China.
Mr. Rees-Williams: This problem has for some time been under consideration in Hong Kong. The physical and other difficulties of preventing an influx of refugees are obvious and it would only add to them if the Governor were asked to disclose any measures he may be able to devise for meeting those difficulties.
