Who would be the man to enquire about that ?
Mr Chapman, is the man at the G. C. H. who keeps the
accounts.
.
At any rate, I knew there was a scarcity
of calves, and I knew what the reason was, and
consequently, when Mr Tung Wa Chun was at the Board
Keeting, and asked when there would be lymphḥ, and he
was told that calves would come soon from the New
Territory, knowing that calves would oume scon from the
New Territory, and that it would be six weeks before
the lymph woula be ripe, I advised Mr Brewin to write
to the Government and insist upon vaccine baing
obtained from Shanghai at once.

Of course. I was acting in this, although I had no
right to, and I insisted, because there might be a
calamity.
Do you know of any provizion made for the coming|3644
season
That I dont know. All I know is that although it was
stated that the calves could not be got here, because
the Chinese had prevented them coming from Canton,
after this little trouble, and Mr Brewin wrote up to
the Government, money was paid to Mr Gibson to get
calves and he got them in a couple of days, and when
he was away, and I was acting Colonial Veterinary
Surgeon, I got a duzen. Latterly they were $50 each.
How did you get them formerly 7
13645
They used to be borrowed formerly, for $7, and then
returned.

I thought they had to be killed ?
