And he is going clear away from the Government service ?

He is going to Shanghai. In connection with this matter in

the letter I received this morning from Mr Lo Man Kai'

imply asked for a fortnight's leave. He was sick and hi

gone up to Canton without permission und he asked for a

fortnight's leave. Until Dr Pearce spoke to me I had nothing

against the man. As a matter of fact the President wrote up

to the Government ind recomended the fortnight's leave. It'

is just possibla he may return at the end of the fortnight.

It is not the first case in which a man has gone without

leave and then returned.
