Hong Kong, to be attached. "the surrender of the lease of the New Jerritories.
In
1. The re-drawing of the frontier between the ceded territories and the leased territories so as to include within the ceded territory the whole of the built-up area of Kowloon and certain islands which at prosent fall within the leased territory. other words, the Colony of Hong Kong would then consist of the Island of Hong Kong plus Kowloon City and the ares described in Section 39(b) of the
Hong Kong Interpretation Ordinance as "New Kowloon", together with certain of the New Territories islands.
2. Joint management of Kal Tak airfield and of that part of the water supply aystem which would run beyond the Colony's new boundary.
It may also be desirable (a) in connection with 2 above, to stipulate that there should be a joint control as well as joint management and there should also be an understanding about the grant of
facilities to the Hong Kong Government for
constructing any further installations in the New Territories (e.g. a new airfield) which might be regarded as necessary or desirable in the interests of the Colony: (b) to add the further condition that the Chinese Government will recognise the existing rights of the individuals who have settled
in the New Territories, unless, of course, this
