Thank you very much indeed for your letter of the 21st July. It was extremely good of you to have taken so much trouble to answer so fully the points which I raised.

I have received from your Private Secretary copies of Sir Mark Young's Despatch No.145 of the 22nd October last and of your Despatch to Hong Kong No.22 of the 3rd July. I am most grateful to you for allowing me to see these and to have copies.

Let us hope that the Colony of Hong Kong, which has prospered so much in the past, will continue to flourish under these new Constitutional changes.
