The conversation then took a turn towards Cyprus affairs but the Secretary of State, who will be seeing. Mr. Bevin again on Monday morning, will take the opportunity to reiterate our views over Hong Kong. He doesn't
propose to write to Mr. Bevin in the matter.
The attached letter of the 25th of February from Mr. Bevin has at least the merit that its second paragraph will entitle us to seek Foreign Office support if the Treasury take the line that they cannot agree to expenditure in Hong Kong in the absence of definite statements of our future intentions.
