And do you stiil maintain that they are separately 1832 entered, having those doors

A.

They have separate stair cases entering them.

Would that not apply to all those new buildings on the Praya, where Jardines offices are, and all round there? I cannot say offhand, but I dont think there are many of those buildings which are sub divided into separate sets of offices, - for instance, with separate stair cases, and not substantially divided from each other. Now, what material would you have approved of them being built of?

18934

A.

I would approve either of brick partitions, or of one of those reinforced concrete partitions.

And that is your sole abjection, because they can be 18935 separately entered

My sole objection to the artitions ♥

I will put it this way: Except for their being separate-

ly entered, you dont think you wou;. have the power - if it is a man's own house?

If it is a man's own house, and he wants to put up partitions in it, I dont think I wld have power to prevent him doing so, though, of course, this clause seems to me to cover a great deal of that. Section 98 sys "Buildings made wholly or partially of glass or iron, or other material not provided for in this Or inance, may be designed otherwise than herein provided, and shall be subject to the approval of the Building Authority in each particular case". That seems

to me a pretty comprehensive thing.

And gou think that that is more comprehensive than 1813)

section 96 ?

Yes, I think that where there is any doubt about the application of section 96, section 98 comes into play.

Do you consider that these two houses, any of these two, 15938
