We understand you are in poor health, and are leaving the goverment service, and as you have been in the Goverment service for some years, I thought it advisable that you should come before us. You will understand very thoroughly the reason why the Commission is sitting, the work we are engaged upon, which is to deal with two questions (1) to make the working of this very strict Building and Sanitary Ordinance, if possible, a little easier to the community, and alsc (2) to see if any irregularities have been going on between Government servants of any degree, high or low, and the public. It is your duty to give us any assistance you can, in carrying out the orders of His Excellency the Governor in this matter. The only thing I need tell you is that we sitting in camera, and nothing is to be said of what takes place in this room, until we have made our report
