Sometime ago, I cannot fix the date. I always had my
suspicions that there was squeeze going on, but I never.
had any case except this clerk.

I have had one or two complaints, but I cannot tell
whether they were blackmailing or squeezing or not.
If you got any complaints of that kind, what would y

A:- Yes, they would go to the Cap ain Superintendent of
Police, and he would enquire about them, and I would not.

I have not sent up to the captain Superintendent of
Police direct. I remember one time a letter was sent up

to Mr Badeley, who sent down and said he would lay a
trap if he could get a routine. It took him sometime to
write out all this routine, and having spoken to Dr
Clark, I wrote up to Mr Badeley. I may have spoken to
Mr Badeley, or sent him a note, or even asked Mr
Badeley to put on a detective, but in most cases I
should pass it on to Dr Clark, or send it up direct with
his knowledge. I remember a case now. There was
