The permanent transport establishment of 3 steam-launches, each capable of carrying 100 men; 1 pontoon, to carry 15 tons; and 11 rowing-boats, with their crews, consisting of 1 European Superintendent and 44 Chinese coxswains, engineers, and boatmen, to be supplemented by hiring 2 steam-launches, to hold 100 men each, and 10 coxswains, engineers, and boatmen

EASTERN DIVISION.

Section I.--Lyemun.

Redoubt on Sywan Hill. Howitzer emplacement, Sywan Hill. Redoubt constructed. on ridge east of Lyemun Redoubt; emplacement for two howitzers on hill

south-west of Lyemun Redoubt.

No. 6.—Time required to lay out Mines.

Preliminary Defence.

This defence will consist of the large observation mines in the Lyemun Time Channel, lines of observation mines in the Friendly Channel in the western required to entrance to the harbour, a row of E. C. mines across the western entrance lay out and in the channel north of Stonecutters' Island. Time, fourteen days.

Complete Defence.

Completing the western defence to four rows of E. C, mines, laying the mine-field inside Lyemun, advanced defences, &c. Time, two months.
