8. The Governor-Gunur::l will communicate with His Majesty's Government through the Secretary of State for the Colonies and

will be subject to his directions.

On matters of domestic concern to their respective territories, the Governors of the Malayan Union and Singaporo will correspond directly with the Secretary of State for the Colonies but the Governor-General will define, in agreement ith them, the matters on which he should receive copies of correspondence passing between them and the Secretary of

Str.tc.

On matters of policy wider than those of domestic import to their respective turritories they will communicate with the Secretary of State for the Colonics through the

Governor-Guner:1.

The British Representative in Brunei will be directly responsiblu to the Governor-Gunurul nd will ndaruss 11 communications to him. Channels of correspondence for the State of North Borneo and Sarawak, and the degree of the Governor-General's responsibility for those territorium, will

bc left for later dufinition.

Any petitions from the Mr.l:yın Union or Singapore on matturs domestic to those territorics will lie through the Governor concerned to the Secretary of State direct and it will be a matter for the Secretary of State's discretion whether to consult the Governor-Gener::1 bufore deciding upon them. Putitions on matters of policy of wider thin domestic import to any on territory will be transmitted by the Governor concerned through the Governor-General to the Secretary of Statu. Any petitions from Brunei will lie through the British Resident, to the Governor-General who will transmit them to the Secretary of Str.te.
